Second Floor Apartment Fire Damages Building In Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire located at 901 N. Cleveland Ave. at 8:07 p.m. on Tuesday night. 

The first crew that arrived on the scene reported smoke and flames coming from a second floor window of the three story building. Crews began evacuating the building and combating the fire. The fire was under control within 15 minutes and confined to the kitchen of the fire apartment on the second floor. 

No injuries were reported from occupants or responders. 

Work continued for hours after the fire to remove smoke from all floors and limit the water damage. The cause of the fire is still under invesgiation. 

All occupants except for the fire apartment were able to return to their apartments. 

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with eight fire trucks, three support vehicles and 34 firefighters. Metro Communciations, Sioux Falls Police, the American Red Cross, Paramedics Plus Ambulanace, Xcel Energy and MidAmerican Energy assisted.
