Search Crews Find Missing Snowmobile Rider

Meade County, SD

Everyone is safe after a snowmobile rider was reported missing in Meade County overnight.

On Tuesday night, Pennington County Search and Rescue was called to help Meade County crews for a report of a missing snowmobile rider. They were last known to be near the Belle Fourche River, about 18 miles north of New Underwood.

Crews used snow cats and other equipment to get through the snow that was up to waist deep in some areas.

At about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, the person was found safe walking down a road. The snowmobile had broke down several miles from where the person lives.

The missing person warmed up in the command post and returned home a short time later.
