SDSU Fans Revved Up

Sioux Falls, SD

The smell of the popcorn and cold beer are not the only things fans could sink their teeth into at the Sioux Falls Arena.

"There's just so much energy.  It's just incredible.  We're used to being up in Brookings with a lot of energy, but this is unreal!" fan Donna Lease said.

From the college students in body paint to the little kids in bunny ears, the Summit League Championship was a fan's dream.  Lease is just one of the fans who caught the SDSU Women's team punch its ticket to the big dance.  Fans who missed it because of work, like Kyle Minett, kept up-to-date with every nail-biting basket.

"Constantly emailing!  I work with a lot of other guys who are SDSU fans.  (We were) constantly watching on the internet and texting!" Minett said.

A SDSU sports alum himself, having played football, Minett said all the excitement that brings together all sorts of Jackrabbit fans is one of his favorite parts of any sporting event, and that is all he needs to enjoy his evening.  Well, maybe a little something else, too

"Maybe get a beer and that's about it.  I'm here to watch the game and just enjoy the crowd and the atmosphere," Minett said.

Win or lose, it was the big night that kept these Jackrabbits excited because most of these fans saw a bigger picture.

"For our school, for our state, on the national stage like that.  It's fabulous," fan Dayna Sigl said.

"We've met the kids and know the parents.  It's just a close-knit thing.  That's what's fun," Lease said.
