A South Dakota teenager accused of sexually abusing girls at his mother's home day care has been sentenced.
18-year-old Jordan Sylaart, of Cavour, reached a deal with prosecutors under which he will serve about three months in a county jail and three years on probation. If he violates terms of his probation, he could be sent to the State Penitentiary for three years.
Sylaart also must pay counseling fees for the victims.
Sylaart's father, Fred, also is charged in the case. He has pleaded not guilty. He has requested a new court-appointed attorney, and a trial date has not been set.
