SD Man Pleads Not Guilty To Threatening Shooting

Yankton, SD

A Yankton man charged for threatening to shoot up a school in a message on Twitter has pleaded not guilty.

23-year-old Travis Potts has entered the plea to two counts of making terroristic threats.

Police in Yankton arrested the man in early May after law enforcement was notified of two tweets Potts posted in April.

Yankton Police Chief Brian Paulsen says one tweet stated that Potts intended to "shoot up" a school and set it on fire. Another tweet said Potts wanted to "set a toddler on fire."

The newspaper reports that making terroristic threats is a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

A trial has been scheduled for July 29.
