SD Governor Awards $1.3M To Recreational Trails

Pierre, SD

South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has awarded $1.3 million to recreational trails in several cities, state parks and the Black Hills National Forest.

Daugaard this week announced the awards given through the Recreational Trails Program.

The cities that were awarded grants for trail construction and upgrades are Aberdeen, Crooks, Deadwood, Fort Pierre, Huron and Rapid City.

Custer State Park, George S. Mickelson Trail and the Black Hills Snowmobile Trail System are among the locations that were given grants for trail improvements.

The funds come from the Federal Highway Administration and represent a portion of the motor fuel excise tax collected from non-highway recreational fuel use.
