A South Dakota gambling oversight commission has accepted several new rules and changes to existing mandates, including policies to allow two new games in casinos: War Blackjack and Dead Man's Hand.
Staff and three of five members of the state's Commission on Gaming met Wednesday and held a public hearing on the rules. About a dozen representatives from Deadwood casinos and the gaming industry were present to provide feedback.
The new games were demonstrated to commissioners. War Blackjack was previewed last fall and is a combination of the two games in its name. Dead Man's Hand is another variation on blackjack.
The commission has also adopted a policy prohibiting use of devices for communication at the table. The policy still allows players to listen to music on their cell phones.
