Saturday Boredom Busters, May 5th

Our team of KELOLAND meteorologists will be programming weather radios for free at the Hy-Vee at 26th & Marion.  Be sure to stop by from 9 a.m. to noon.  You can bring your weather radio from home, or buy a new one at a special low price.

A new array of artwork debuts today as part of SculptureWalk 2018.   The new sculptures are being installed on their pedestals Saturday morning and will be on display through the rest of the year.  The sculptures are located along sidewalks in downtown Sioux Falls as well as the Uptown and East Bank business districts.
 
The Falls Park Farmer's Market opens a new season featuring fresh flowers, bread, local meats and tender greens for sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The Farmer's Market is open every Saturday through October.

The 10th annual EmBe Community 5K is a non-competitive run celebrating the achievements of Embe youth running programs.  Registration at Yankton Trail Park stats at 8 a.m.  The cost is $15 for youth, $30 for adults.  The 5K starts at 9:30 a.m.  

The Harrisburg Parks & Recreation Board is hosting an Arbor Day Event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Liberty Elementary School.  The free event includes learning all about trees, a fun run/walk around the Central Park Pond Trail and kite flying.  

The Sioux Valley Cycle Club begins a new season of Short Track Bike Racing.  There will be TT motorcycle racing on a flattrack oval from 4:30 to 10 p.m.  Concessions, picnic area and playground are also available.  Admission is $5, free for kids under five.  The Sioux Valley Cycle Club is located north of Sioux Falls on 477th Avenue.

Just Between Friends of Greater Sioux Falls is hosting a Spring & Summer Sale at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds this weekend.  Children's clothing from infant to teen sizes, toys, furniture, baby gear, books, shoes and more will be on sale at the Expo Building from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Saturday's hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  A portion of sales are donated to Holy Innocents Diaper Ministry.
 
The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting a free Open House this weekend at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes the largest model train layout in South Dakota.  The open house is on the north end of the fairgrounds, across from the old armory.

Rainbow Comics, Cards & Collectibles in Sioux Falls is celebrating Free Comic Book Day.  Book fans can meet and greet comic book superheroes and artists from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Rainbow Comics is located at 3310 S. Minnesota.   

The University of Sioux Falls Theatre Department presents Into the Woods at the Meredith Auditorium in the Jeschke Fine Arts Center.  The performance is at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $12.
  
Christian recording artist and Pierre native Calvin Jones will perform a Piano Concert at 6:30 p.m. at Prairie Hills Covenant Church in Sioux Falls.  The concert is free.  Prairie Hills Covenant is located at 6000 E. 33rd Street.
 
Enjoy story time and an animal encounter during the Bookworms Reading Program at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.  The program starts  at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.  
  
The Storm indoor football team takes on the Iowa Barnstormers at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.  Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets are available at the KELOLAND Box Office.
