Saturday Boredom Busters, May 20th

The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Military & Veterans Affairs Committee is hosting an Armed Forces Day program.  Music by the Sioux Falls Municipal Band begins at 10 a.m. at the South Dakota Air National Guard.  The program begins at 10:30 a.m. with speeches, award presentations and an oath of enlistment ceremony.  
 
The Spring Parade of Homes showcases 90 new homes built in Sioux Falls, Brandon, Harrisburg, Tea and Dell Rapids.  The parade is from 1-5 p.m. today and Sunday.  All homes are free to tour except the two Feature Homes which are $5 each to see.  The money goes toward the Home Builders Care Foundation.

The Sioux Empire Film Festival features more than 40 films from across the country, many of them shot in South Dakota or created by South Dakota filmmakers.  The screenings begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Belbas Theater of the Washington Pavilion.  The featured film, Wild Prairie Rose, will be shown during the final session beginning at 6 p.m.  Tickets to the festival are $15 & $20.  
 
The  White Wall Sessions presents Sky Smeed in concert at The Last Stop CD Shop studio on East 10th Street in Sioux Falls.  The performance is at 2 p.m.  Tickets are $5.  The weekly showing of The White Wall Sessions airs on KELOLAND TV at 10:30 p.m.  

NAMIWalks is celebrating 15 years of raising awareness of mental illness and raising money to help local families.  Check-in for the 5K walk begins at 8 a.m. at Sertoma Park.  The walk begins at 9:30 a.m.  

AMA Coins is hosting the South Dakota Coin & Stamp Association Show this weekend the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  You can buy, sell or swap collectibles from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.  Sunday's hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is free.  
  
St. Mary Parish in Sioux Falls is hosting a Plant Sale this weekend.  Today's hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Sunday's hours are 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Proceeds from the sale will go to the parish altar society.  St. Mary is located at 2901 S. 5th Avenue.

The Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa wraps up today with a full schedule of events including a fly-in breakfast at 7 a.m., an antique tractor show at 9 a.m., wooden shoe-carving demonstrations at 10 a.m., parades at 1 & 6 p.m. and a showing of Shrek the Musical at 8 p.m.  

The Sioux Empire Community Theatre presents Jesus Christ Superstar at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Sioux Falls.  The performance is at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $30.
  
The Canaries baseball team plays its season home opener against the Sioux City Explorers.  First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. at Sioux Falls Stadium.  Tickets start at $11.
  
The Storm indoor football team takes on the Cedar Rapids Titans at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.  Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets are available at the KELOLAND Box Office.
