Saturday Boredom Busters, March 3rd

The Summit League Basketball Tournament tips off Saturday at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.  The women's bracket features USD taking on Fort Wayne at noon followed by SDSU versus NSDU at 2:30 p.m.  In the men's bracket, SDSU plays Western Illinois at 6 p.m. followed by USD taking on Omaha at 8:30 p.m.  

If you don't have tickets to the games you can still attend the free Fan Fest in the Sioux Falls Arena.  There will be activities like pep rallies, three-point contests and photo opps with the Summit League championship trophy.  Fan Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

The Skyforce Basketball team takes on the Texas Legends at the Sanford Pentagon.  Tip-off is at 7:05 p.m.  
Xtreme International Ice Racing features motorcyclists going full-speed on the ice at the SCHEELS IcePlex in Sioux Falls.   The racing starts at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets start at $12.

First Baptist Church in Parker is hosting a benefit for cancer patient Denise Finnell.  The fundraiser goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and includes a soup dinner, bake sale and silent auction.  First Baptist is located at 550 Eastside Avenue in Parker, SD.
The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra presents Bernstein & Beethoven, a concert featuring the music of composers Leonard Berstein and Luwig van Beethoven. The performance is at 7:30 in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion.

The Sioux Valley Model Train Club is hosting a free Open House this weekend at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.  The open house runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes the largest model train layout in South Dakota.  The open house is on the north end of the fairgrounds, across from the old armory.

SHINE Kids is hosting a benefit for their friend; 9 year old Peyton, a student at Piedmont Valley Elementary, battling bone cancer. The benefit starts at 5 p.m. at the Hills View Evangelical Free Church. There will also a soup and chili donation dinner. 
Dino-Roars has returned to the Delbridge Museum of Natural History at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.   Check out the 19 life-like dinosaurs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The cost is $3, plus a zoo admission.   Dino-Roars runs daily through April 15. 
While you're at the zoo, enjoy story time and an animal encounter at the Bookworms Reading Program at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.
