Saturday Boredom Busters, March 17th

Irish eyes will be smiling upon downtown Sioux Falls Saturday.  St. Patrick's Day activities begin at 11 a.m. with the traditional painting of the shamrock at 9th & Phillips.  Floats and parade participants will gather at 12:30 p.m. in the staging area at 13th & Phillips.  The St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 2 p.m. heading north on Phillips Avenue to 5th Street. 
  
The Washington Pavilion is hosting Ag Day in celebration of National Agriculture Week.  There will be free hands-on activiities for kids and families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.   A free lunch will also be served and there is free admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center.  

Schmeckfest is a celebration of German heritage on the campus of Freeman Academy.  Events include an ethnic German meal served from 3:45 to 7 p.m.  That's followed by a performance of the musical Godspell at 8 p.m.  

The Spring Fever Shopping Market features crafters, artisans and local shops selling items from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.  Admission is $5, free for kids 12 and under.  Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

Sea & Sky Saturday features Colorful Corals at the Butterly House & Aquarium in Sioux Falls.  Dive into the Discovery Den to enjoy fun activities involving corals from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The cost is $10 for adults, $7 for kids.  The Butterfly House & Aquarium is located in Sertoma Park at 53rd & Oxbow.

Bring your antiques from home and have them evaluated at the Antiques, Railroad Show & Sale at the Hill City Middle School gym.  Saturday's hour are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Sunday's hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Admission is free.  There is a $3 per item evaluation fee.  Proceeds support the Hill City Senior Center and the South Dakota Railroad Museum.

The Skyforce basketball team takes on the Austin Spurs at the Sanford Pentagon.  Tip-off is at 7:05 p.m.  
 
Check out the 19 life-like dinosaurs on exhibit at Dino-Roars in the Delbridge Museum of Natural History at the Great Plains Zoo.  Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The cost is $3, plus a zoo admission.   Dino-Roars runs daily through April 15. 

While you're at the zoo, enjoy storytime and an animal encounter at the Bookworms Reading Program at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center.
