Saturday Boredom Busters

Sioux Falls, SD

The World's Largest Truck Convoy is a fundraiser for Special Olympics.  Trucks will line up at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds at 10 a.m.  The convoy leaves the Madison Street exit of the fairgrounds at 10:15 a.m.  The trucks take North Russell Street east to Minnesota Avenue, then south to I-229, south to I-29, then north to Madison street back to the fairgrounds.  The truck show follows from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hogtoberfest in Rapid City is a benefit for Black Hills Special Olympics.  Hogtoberfest includes a pig roast starting at 3 p.m. at Robbinsdale Lounge.  Live music starts at 8 p.m.  Robbinsdale Lounge is located at 805 St. Patrick Street in Rapid City. 

Oktoberfest in Wilmont, MN includes a vendor fair, food trucks, an adult bean bag tournament at 1 p.m., a children's carnival from 2-5 p.m., polka music from 2-5 p.m., and live rock music starting at 8 p.m.

The defending Clark Cup champions Sioux Falls Stampede host the Sioux City Musketeers in their home season opener at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.  They'll drop the puck at 7:05 p.m.  Tickets cost $10 if you ask for the One Year Anniversary Special at the KELOLAND Box Office.

Golf Addiction is hosting an End of Summer Bash from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.  The bash includes food trucks, live music, golf, and a bean bag tournament.  The cost is $5 after 4 p.m. with free admission for kids.  Golf Addiction is located at 5301 W. 57th Street in Sioux Falls.

West Nidaros Lutheran Church is hosting a Harvest Festival Supper from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.  The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes and Norwegian goodies.  Carry-outs are available.  The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for youth, $1.50 for kids 6 and under.  West Nidaros Lutheran is located 3 miles north and a mile east of Crooks, SD.

The Dakota Country Dance Club is hosting a pair of events today.  The first is dance lessons at Active Generations in Sioux Falls.  The morning beginner sessions are free starting at 9 a.m., the afternoon intermediate/advanced lessons cost $15 a person.  Then, there will be a Murder Mystery Masquerade Dance Party at 7 p.m at the Hartford American Legion.  It's free for club members, $10 for everyone else.

Celebrate National Alpaca Farms Days at a couple of farms in northwest Iowa this weekend.  You can learn about raising alpacas during free open houses at the Triple Tree  and the Pair-a-dice Ranch in Sheldon, Iowa.  Today's hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Sunday's hours are from noon to 5 p.m.

Kids can enjoy story-time and an animal encounter at the Bookworms Reading Program at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.  The program begins at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center. It's free with a zoo admission.

Augustana University's Theatre Department presents Antigone at 7:30 p.m. at the Edith Mortenson Center on the Augie Campus.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and free for students.
