Saturday Boredom Busters

JazzFest wraps up today at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls.  The Main Stage performances include Jazzed with Bobby Gripp at noon, JazzFest Jazz Camp with Allen Vizzutti at 1:30 p.m., Alicia Olatuja at 3 p.m., Slim Man at 4:30 p.m., The Record Company at 6 p.m., Galactic at 8 pm. and Grace Potter at 10 p.m.

Star Performance is hosting an Open House this weekend where you can check out cheer, dance and gymnastics programs for kids.  There will be free playtime in the gym, plus a birthday party giveaway.  Today's hours are from 9-11 a.m.  Sunday's hours are from 5-7 p.m. The Star Performance Complex is located at 2517 S. Shirley Avenue in Sioux Falls.

Learn about fireflies and make a firefly craft during Sea & Sky Saturday at the Sertoma Butterfly House & Marine Cove.  The hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The butterfly house is located in Sertoma Park, at 53rd & Oxbow in Sioux Falls.

It's Halloween In July at Oakwood Lakes State Park near Bruce, SD.  They'll be decorating masks at the amphitheater at 2:30 p.m., followed by a costume fashion show at 4:30 p.m.  Trick-or-treating begins at 5 p.m.  Be sure to bring along candy for the kids. 

Learn about all the creatures that inhabit the Prairie Butterfly Garden at Oahe Downstream Recreation Area at Fort Pierre.  The Little Wings on the Prairie Festival starts at 10 a.m. and includes experts to help you identify the caterpillars and butterflies.  The cost is a park admission.  The garden is located at the entrance to the park, just south of the Welcome Center. 

Kids can enjoy story-time and an animal encounter at the Bookworms Reading Program at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls.  The program begins at 1 p.m. in the KELOLAND Education Center. It's free with a zoo admission.

Tonight's free Moonlight Movie at Fawick Park in downtown Sioux Falls is The Lego Movie, rated PG.   The film begins at dusk.  Snacks will be sold during the movie.

Enjoy Irish music by the Sioux Falls Celi Band during Sounds at the Falls.  The free concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Queen Bee Mill in Falls Park.

Learn about Pipestone, Minnesota's paranormal past during Summer Ghost Tours through the downtown area.    The one-and-a-half hour tour starts at 8 p.m. at the Pipestone County Museum.  The cost is $7.  The tours run each Saturday night through the Labor Day weekend.

Vendors are selling fresh produce and many other items at  the Falls Park Farmers Market, the Sioux Empire Farmers Market at the 8th & Railroad Center, the Prairie Farmers Market is located at Cherapa Place and Callaway's Farmer's Market off 69th and Minnesota.

The Youth Art Show & Sale is free-to-view show featuring works by local artists 17 years and younger.  The art show takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Downtown Riverfront Amphitheather between 6th & 8th Streets in Sioux Falls.

St. Lambert's Catholic Church is hosting its annual Rummage, Book & Bake Sale.  Today's hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday's hours are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The sale includes a raffle and lunch.  St. Lambert's is located at 1000 S. Bahnson in Sioux Falls.
