Renovated Colton Library Holds Open House

Colton, SD

After months of hard work, the Colton Library was able to unveil its new look in an opening house today.

This donated building was gutted and redone completely, including adding a new furnace. Fundraising for the new library started last summer. All of the work and money was giving to the library through donations. Head Librarian Roxie Ellis says all the effort from the community is what she is most proud of.

“When I look around I see the whole community involvement in this room. I'm proud to be part of this community. It’s super grass-roots commitment on what you can do if you want it for your town,” Head Librarian Roxie Ellis said.

Ellis does say the library still needs around $35,000 in donations to put on the finishing touches.
