Rapid City, SD
The Rapid City Fire Department has its first search and rescue dog, thanks to a $20,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security.
A Belgian Malinois named Cisco was sworn in as an official employee of the department earlier this week next to wood pallets where he will work to become a certified rescue K-9.
Cisco will specialize in finding people who are lost but alive.
The grant includes about $8,000 to buy Cisco and $12,000 for training and equipment.
