Rapid City Obtains Restraining Order Against Man

Rapid City, SD

Rapid City officials have obtained a restraining order to keep a man from contacting city staff.

City attorney Joel Landeen said that city leaders made the rare request from a judge for the safety of employees.

Landeen says the decision to ask for a restraining order was done as a last resort. He says it was done after years of erratic contact between the man and city officials.

Landeen says it's not uncommon to work with disgruntled people, or people unhappy with decisions that have been made. But he says the action was taken after the man began using language such as "justifiable homicide" in contact with city officials.
