Strays at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society won't be going hungry, thanks to your generosity. Donors dropped off more 3,100 pounds of pet provisions during our KELOLAND-TV food drive.
Bring Your Dog to Work Day proved to be a howling success at KELOLAND TV. Animal lovers showed their canine compassion with a steady outpouring of generosity by the bagful.
"It makes me feel good, I think it's helping out," Greg Davis of Sioux Falls said.
Greg Davis made a donation on behalf of his pet dachshund, Lucy who rode up to the station with him.
"I know that they're getting a lot of dogs and cats in there and they need a little extra just to help out, do something good for them," Davis said.
The donations will go a long way toward feeding hungry strays at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.
"I found out about it on KELO, listening to it, and found out that it was today and so I talked to my daughter who is here from Georgia who also has a lot of pets and she said, let's do it. So we went and bought some food and we're dropping it off," Doretta Colon of Sioux Falls said.
Many people dropped off 20-pound bags. They furnished a ton's worth of donations by noon. And the food just kept coming.
"I get a really satisfaction, a happy feeling when I am really helping them out because I do know that there's a dire need for the food and for pets in general," Colon said.
