Police Arrest Driver In Hit-And-Run Crash

Sioux Falls, SD

The driver suspected of crashing his SUV into a Sioux Falls duplex got away, but it wasn't too long until police officers found him.

Police say about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, a Yukon backed out on to South Terry Avenue.  The driver went forward, lost control and crashed into a living room.  The 77-year-old woman who lives there was in her bed at the time, and isn't hurt, but police say she could've been as her bedroom is right next to the living room.

The suspect drove away, and police later arrested 31-year-old Shawn Essem at his home.

Police say the damage will cost about $15,000.
