Federal agencies will take over the investigation into a deadly plane crash in Pierre.
It was around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday when a single-engine plane went down following takeoff. When the plane crashed, it started on fire and that spread to some nearby grass. Fire crews were among the emergency responders who rushed to the scene. The firefighters put out the plane fire and the grassfire.
The airport manager says a man died in the crash, but he wouldn't identify the pilot or type of plane.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will lead the investigation into the cause of the crash.
