Parole Board Denies Ramos' Request

Springfield, SD

Parole is denied for a second time for a man who pled guilty to killing his pregnant girlfriend 20 years ago.

Joaquin Ramos was sentenced to life in prison without parole after pleading guilty to first degree manslaughter in 1994.  Former Governor Mike Rounds commuted his sentence to 150 years before leaving office, making Ramos eligible for parole in 2013.  After speaking with the victim's family, Rounds recommended that Ramos should be denied parole.

KELOLAND's Leland Steva was at Ramos' hearing today and will have reaction from both sides on KELOLAND News at 10.
