Pancreatic Cancer Awareness At USF Football Game

Sioux Falls, SD

This afternoon at the University of Sioux Falls football game, representatives from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network were on hand to create the awareness and support patients battling the deadly disease.

Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer, and many times it is not detected until it is a stage 4 cancer where little can be done.

Representatives are hoping for a bill, already passed in congress, will also be approved in the U-S senate to allow for a more strategic plan towards the top 10 deadly cancers as well as allocating more money for research.

"The reason we are here to advocate today that only six percent of people live beyond five years with this disease, 74 percent die within the first year, so the voice for this disease is relatively quiet," said Lori Murray of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

November is pancreatic cancer awareness month.
