OSHA To Investigate Aberdeen Construction Accident

aberdeen, sd

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be investigating a deadly construction accident in Aberdeen.

Brown County Coroner Michael Carlson says 66-year-old Larry Huffman died Tuesday when a semi pup trailer at the construction site where he was working ran him over. Huffman was part of a crew prepping ground for a new Schwan Food Company building in the northeast part of the city.

Carlson says Huffman died at the scene.

Huffman worked for Lien Transportation Company of Aberdeen. Its owners, Trevor and Jason Lien, released a statement Wednesday saying:

"All of us at Lien Transportation Company are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and co-worker, Larry Huffman. Larry was a seasoned veteran employee of our company for 15 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. Larry was much admired and will be truly missed."

A search of OSHA's website doesn't show Lien Transportation Company being investigated for any safety concerns in the past.

The company has also worked with Brown County and the City of Aberdeen on numerous projects. Officials from both say they've never had safety concerns with Lien Transportation.
