North Dakota, South Dakota Enjoy Record Heat

bismarck, nd

Unseasonably warm weather over the weekend led to several high-temperature records in the Dakotas.

The National Weather service reports that records were set on Sunday in the North Dakota cities of Bismarck, Fargo, Grand Forks and Jamestown, as well as in Huron, S.D. The North Dakota cities all were in the 50s, and the mercury in Huron hit 60 degrees.

In some cities, including Sioux Falls, S.D., and Leonard, N.D., the only white thing on the ground Sunday was golf balls, as local links opened up to hackers a week before Christmas.

The forecast calls for cooler temps in the coming days, but highs in the two states are still expected to be above freezing much of the week.
