It's summer vacation for many kids across KELOLAND and if you are trying to find something to do this summer a new exhibit at the Butterfly House may interest you.
The Sertoma Butterfly House has plenty to offer and it's ever growing. Each day lots of families visit the butterfly house looking for a fun, but educational experience.
“We also have a lot of marine life you really don't see here in South Dakota, you are going to encounter animals like lion fish, live coral reefs, Nemo, Dory, all of the animals kids love," Executive Director Audrey Willard said.
From the puffer fish to sea urchins, even sharks and sting rays you can touch, if you wanted to do this elsewhere then get ready to travel.
"We have some unique exhibits here that you wouldn't see anywhere else in the region, for the sharks and stingrays you'd have to travel to Chicago or Denver to have hands on experiences," said Willard.
That is why science teacher Jessica Johns brings her daughter here.
"It is really cool. It is cool to see the different types of butterflies and the stingrays which we wouldn't be able to see living in a land lock state," said Johns.
Johns says from the marine cove, touch pools, and into the butterfly house her daughter learns about nature from the inside.
"I think she has a really cool appreciation of nature and living things and just how cool nature is," said Johns.
The Pacific Rim touch Pool is the newest addition to the butterfly house. For more information, visit sertomabutterflyhouse.org.
