A Nebraska man has been sentenced for committing a federal wildlife crime while employed as a guide for a South Dakota hunting business.
Thirty-year-old Jeremy Hoefs was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $525 in fines and fees and $4,700 in restitution to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says Hoefs helped in the unlawful taking of ducks by unlicensed hunters in the fall of 2009 in Marshall County while he was working for Windy Hill Outfitters. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced last Friday.
