Many of the mourners who have been filing past the flag-draped coffin of former South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow woke up before dawn to drive 100 miles or more for one last chance to see him.
Sixty-eight-year old Judy Fott and her 70-year-old husband, Joe, drove 100 miles from Hamil, S.D. early Tuesday morning to see Janklow as he lies in state at the Capitol Rotunda in Pierre.
The couple left their home at 4:15 a.m. and was lined up outside the Capitol by 6:50 a.m., 10 minutes before it opened to visitors.
Judy Fott says, "We came because we were friends of Janklow. We respected him. He was a good guy."
Mike Jaspers drove 230 miles from Sioux Falls Monday night to see Janklow, who died Thursday at age 72.
