A car is a quick and convenient way to get around town, but what if you decided to travel by bike instead? One KELOLAND Mother has decided to do just that.
As a green family, Jolene Wilson has always wanted a bike to cut back on emissions. Well, now with the help of Madsen Bike Company, her dream has become a reality.
Using a bike as a way of transportation is a dream she's had for many years. And while riding a bike may seem easy, it's quite a challenge for Jolene Wilson.
"I really am I am nervous about the bike. I'm not a biker. I'm not mechanically inclined. I'm horrible at balance. And so all of those things are like, okay the bike is completely out of my comfort zone on every level. So, I'm just going to try and, you know, if you fail you fail," Jolene Wilson said.
After saving for some time, Wilson contacted Madsen Bike Company for some help and began the challenge.
"So, I started the blog and now I am just tracking the progress that is being made," Wilson said.
During the next two months, Wilson will ride the specialized bike, with her kids buckled in safe and sound behind her every where she goes.
"The bike, I think, could change our whole life and it's so simple. It's so timeless and so basic and just going back and just getting to enjoy what's out there, you know, you just take for granted," Wilson said.
While excited and nervous all at the same time, Jolene says the thing that is going to be different is bringing home the groceries in the cart where the kids are seated.
"I like to stock pile groceries; it's my addiction. And so just to be able to put a week's-worth of groceries is what I think is going to be a big change for me," Wilson said.
While she is nervous, the rest of her family is excited. One reason is because of what she's doing and the other for what she gets to wear.
"Kind of a little bit like she was crazy for wanting to try it but I was proud that she wants to do something so unique that nobody else is really doing," Jolene's Husband Chad Wilson said.
"Cause I just love wearing these helmets," Jolene's Son Lynden Wilson said.
Since she is new to the area, she would also love ideas of places to go and she has already begun her daily blog about her journey.
