The nursing home in Hendricks, Minnesota, turned into an art gallery on Friday, showing off the works of one of its residents who kept her artistic talents a secret for nearly seventy years.
86-year-old Teresa Ford created the oil, crayon and watercolor paintings while she was a college student in Mankato back in 1944. Her children discovered the paintings at her house just this past summer.
Ford says she was "too bashful" to tell anyone about her artistic side.
"We always had books that had pictures in them I'd get for Christmas gifts. Maybe when the time is ready, I'll get some more," Ford said.
Ford plans to give the paintings to her ten children for Christmas.
