Meth Cleanup Underway At Wagner Home

wagner, sd

Crews are cleaning up toxic chemicals from the Wagner home where officials found the body of a two-year-old in a closet and her care takers who lived there have admitted to using meth.

Officials found the body of RieLee Lovell in the home on the Fourth of July. 21-year-old Taylor Cournoyer and 28-year-old Laurie Cournoyer have said they were using meth and marijuana and couldn't remember the last time they saw her alive.

Wednesday, as the Cournoyers wait for their trial in jail, about 20 workers with Santi Kleen worked in white suits and masks, carrying appliances and furniture out of the house.

The people in charge of the cleanup say this is a very large project because they believe it was a meth lab at some point.

But Santi Kleen is not only cleaning up the home, the company is teaching people who live in the area how to clean it up as well so they can help turn around meth use in their neighborhood, community and on the reservation.

We'll have more on how they're using it as a teaching opportunity tonight on KELOLAND News.
