Madison Police: The Public Is Not In Danger

madison, sd

Madison police continue their search for the suspect in a deadly shooting.

72-year-old Norm Johnson was shot in his home around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Authorities say the public is not in danger, but many in town are on edge.

The suspect is described as a 50 to 70 year old white man who's around six foot tall with a medium build and glasses.

Wednesday evening, the community will come together for a prayer service. The service is set to be at Trinity Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. where Johnson is a member. His family, however, will not be in attendance.

"It's a fearful time. So we really don't know what to plan for. It's just an offer that stands. And if people feel the courage or call to come, they will come. I really don't know what to expect," Trinity Lutheran Church Pastor Constanze Hagmaier said.

The memorial service is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
