Luverne Man Dead After Crash

Luverne, MN

A Luverne man died last night from injuries sustained during a one-vehicle crash in downtown Luverne.

At approximately 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, a truck driven by 52-year-old Timothy James, of Chattanooga, TN, was traveling eastbound on Main Street. According to police, James had stopped for a red light at Cedar Street, and once the light turned green, proceeded to make a right-hand turn.

71-year-old Marv Cleppe, of Luverne, who is confined to a wheelchair, proceeded into the crosswalk when the light turned green. The truck collided with Cleppe who was transported to Sanford Luverne where he was pronounced dead.

James was not distracted at the time of the crash and authorities say alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash. The case is still under investigation.
