Local Ordinances Guide Campaign Sign Rules

Pierre, SD

The South Dakota primary is over, so candidates and their supporters are on the clock to take down campaign signs.

Secretary of State Jason Gant says the cities and counties set the rules, so the length of time people have to remove signs varies by jurisdiction.

He says the average is about a week.

In Sioux Falls, political campaign signs may be displayed 60 days before an election and seven days after.
