LifeLight Festival Pushes On Despite Rain

Near Worthing, SD

Wet and muddy conditions over an entire weekend won't be enough to keep thousands of people from one of the biggest Christian music festivals in the country.

"It's become a really big part of Sioux Falls. We know that people plan their Labor Day weekends around this and with that we bring in people from all over the country that want to see the best Christian music artists," LifeLight board member Nathan Shock said.

With five stages and more than 70 artists, the expected crowd of more than 100,000 people per day won't lack entertainment. One big change is the way people get into the grounds.

"New this year is we have tickets. So, we want people to print out those tickets ahead of time and bring them with them. That'll help them get into the festival sooner," Shock said.

The rain over the past week has created a muddy situation for camping or just walking around, but LifeLight volunteers have been working around the clock to create new walkways and dryer ground.

"We have some incredible operations volunteers that, with this being the 17th year of the festival, they have gotten used to dealing with whatever elements God has in store for us," Shock said.

Regardless of the weather this weekend, the crowd of thousands will enjoy great music and the feeling of community at the LifeLight Festival.

"We're really excited that this is something that brings that church community together in Sioux Falls for some of the best music that you're going to hear anywhere, in an open atmosphere, with friends and neighbors that will be something they'll remember for a long time," Shock said.
