Homeowner Kills Intruder During Home Invasion

Rapid City, SD

A North Rapid City neighborhood is in shock after an early morning shooting. Police say it happened during a home invasion where the home owner shot and killed the intruder shortly before 5 a.m.

When police arrived they found at 21-year old Dallas Two Bulls' body. He was shot three times by a homeowner acting in self defense.

Residents in the neighborhood woke up to an unfamiliar sight.

"A couple of police cars and the crime tape spread across, there.  And we were just scratching our heads wondering what was going on," neighbor Byford Avery said.

Police were called to a home shortly before five in the morning for an unknown problem.  They found 69-year-old Tom Wilson with serious injuries.

Police say he had been beaten with a blunt object by 21-year-old Dallas Two Bulls.  Wilson shot Two Bulls several times, killing him.

More than five hours after the initial call came in, investigators are still scouring the neighborhood.  Those who live in the area say that stuff like this just doesn't happen here.

"We never seem to have too much in the way of issues.  Very little vandalism, for instance, just the occasional stranger passing through taking a shortcut to somewhere else," Avery said.

Rapid City police say the case is still under investigation and won't release any more details Tuesday night.
