KELOLAND went from cool temps to warm weather in a very short period of time. Now, heating and cooling companies are working long hours to make sure everyone is comfortable.
"This year seems to be different than most years because it seems like we went right from winter right into summer," said Waterbury Heating and Cooling service tech Troy Ripperda.
"The phones were so busy at our office that you couldn't even get through sometimes, I couldn't even get through," Ripperda said.
On the roof to fix air conditioning units across the area, Ripperda tries to stay hydrated while working 14 hour days.
"Usually you have some downtime between seasons, this year we were heating just a few weeks ago, and now bam we are now into air conditioning," Ripperda said.
Ripperda says many units that have stopped working just need a check-up after a long winter.
"Most of these units that we're going to run into this time of year are just going to need a good cleaning," Ripperda said.
Changing your filters and having annual maintenance done, he says doing these things can keep you cool during the summer.
"Just important for the homeowner to make sure their equipment is checked every year and we can prevent a lot of the early replacements," Ripperda said.
Waterbury Heating and Cooling work on both business and residential heating and cooling units. It has nearly a dozen service techs on the staff.
