Gov. Dennis Daugaard will speak at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion when officials break ground for a new volleyball and basketball arena Tuesday afternoon.
The 6,000-seat arena will eventually be connected to the DakotaDome where most of the university's sports are currently played. Construction of the arena will take place with a new academic building for physical therapy and related programs. An outdoor soccer and track facility also is planned.
The University of South Dakota athletics recently ascended into NCAA's Division I. The new USD facility is expected to cost $66 million, much of which came from donors.
