Sioux Falls, SD
South Dakota's governor and economic development leaders are in New York City this week to pitch Sioux Falls to financial writers.
Sioux Falls Development Foundation president Salter Barr says the city ranks high on lists of best places to do business and live but in the middle of the pack on surveys of business executives.
He says the goal of the trip Wednesday and Thursday is to close that gap by meeting with national media outlets.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard says state leaders don't favor Sioux Falls but support all local economic development efforts.
He says the city does pull more than its own weight. It has about 29 percent of the state's population but produces roughly 38 percent of South Dakota's gross domestic product.
