“We are planning to complete three passes of street sweeping across the city this year,” Galynn Huber, street and fleet operations manager, said. “One more pass should take place over the course of the summer, and a third pass is planned for the fall months.”

Officials say that street sweeping keeps the city clean and prevents runoff waste from entering local water ways. Street sweeping equipment collected approximately 7,350 tons of waste during the first pass of sweeping this year. The material is beneficially reused as cover material or to improve temporary roads at the landfill.
