Sioux Falls, SD
Thursday is this year's last distribution date for our Keep KELOLAND Warm drive.
From 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House in Sioux Falls, people who need winter clothing will be able to pick up coats, hats, and gloves. While KELOLAND Media Group has been doing this drive for several years, this is the first year that Montgomery's furniture company has partnered with the project.
"It's been a real humbling experience to be part of Keep KELOLAND Warm," Montgomery's President Eric Sinclair said. "First of all, the outpouring of support and how many coats that the community drops off has been absolutely overwhelming,"
Sinclair says his business has helped connect winter clothing to people who need it.
"Montgomery's has been able to send our guys and our delivery trucks around all the Lewis stores once a week and pick up all the coats that were dropped off at the Lewis stores," Sinclair said.
Tomorrow, coats and other winter gear will be handed out at the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House.
"Individuals in our community who are struggling with providing those necessities themselves, they'll be able to get a great warm coat that they'll be able to have throughout the entire winter season," Bishop Dudley Hospitality House Executive Director Chad Campbell said.
But it's not just a chance to receive warm clothing.
"It's going to be a great opportunity for our folks to interact with people in the community, the volunteers, and everybody who comes down here to support this great event," Campbell said.
And there's still an opportunity for you to give.
"If you still have a coat that you'd like to drop off, bring it here to Montgomery's on 41st Street, and we will get it into the sorting process," Sinclair said.
There's already been an outpouring.
"When I started this, I had no idea on how many thousands and thousands of coats that we would be picking up and sorting," Sinclair said.
Until 2 p.m. Wednesday is your very last opportunity to drop off coats at Montgomery's. All other drop-off locations ended last week.
