For the past couple of years, the Embe Avera downtown has implemented a pre-school Spanish immersion program.
Students play games, go over spelling and read for a couple hours a day, which is all taught in Spanish. The curriculum is designed in a way so that it's easy for kids to jump in and embrace a new language. The program director says it prepares students for a whole new level of learning as well as mind development because their problem solving skills are enhanced when they pick up a second language.
Coming up on Eye On KELOLAND at ten, hear from the Spanish teacher who is originally from Columbia and how she teaches students not only about the language but her culture as well.
