East River Electric Working On Restoring Power For Wessington Springs

Wessington Springs, SD

Crews from the East River Electric Power are working to restore power to the community of Wessington Springs. East River de-energized the city on Wednesday so that those working in the recovery effort could do so safely.

Just after 11 a.m. Wessington Springs energized the north substation giving the city a portion of power.

East River is working closely with emergency management to get the power back on as soon as it is safe to do so.

Crews are also working on the electric system in southeastern South Dakota and northwest Iowa affected by severe flooding.

A power line that serves Akron, IA is currently down, but flooding may be too severe to make repairs at this time. The city is currently working to get an emergency line established.
