Sioux Falls, SD
Sioux Falls authorities are celebrating another graduate of the drug court program.
After being sober for more than 600 days - and completing the rigorous rehabilitation program - Abigail Dieters became the 16th graduate from the Sioux Falls drug court this afternoon.
The program keeps nonviolent drug offenders out of prison by closely monitoring them and requiring them to go to through treatment and make regular court appearances.
"Today I leave this program but this program is with me forever; 641 days sober and so happy with life. It's far from perfect and it's still stressful at times but instead of running from my problems I've learned to face them head on,” Dieters said.
South Dakota also has drug court programs in Yankton, Mitchell, Watertown and the Black Hills.
