Dakota Fire Prompts Evacuation Warnings

Rapid City, sd

Crews in western South Dakota are busy fighting a wildfire near Sheridan Lake.

According to authorities, the Dakota Fire was reported Tuesday near Dakota Point Recreation Area.  That's about 15 miles southwest from Rapid City.

The fire is burning around 75 acres of land.  It is burning in a heavily wooded area and that's producing a good amount of smoke. 

People in 12 homes have received evacuation warnings.

Resources on scene include one helicopter, two engines, as well as numerous members of law enforcement.  Visit the InciWeb website for the latest on the Dakota Fire.
