The first of stained glass windows in a $3 million restoration project will be reinstalled at the South Dakota Capitol next week.
Mike Mueller with the Bureau of Administration said temporary scaffolding will be installed this weekend and the reinstallation of stained glass above the grand staircase will be done Thursday.
Mueller says stained glass from the rotunda dome and above the House and Senate chambers continues to be cleaned at Conrad Schmitt Studios in Wisconsin.
The House and Senate skylights were installed upside-down about 100 years ago. After they are restored, they will be installed properly.
Mueller says the project is on track for completion in September and in time for the state's 125 anniversary in November.
