As South Dakota works to recruit doctors to rural parts of the state, Huron has its own successful program in place.
The recruitment program signs medical students who commit to work in Huron for five year after finishing residencies. In exchange, the hospital will pay off their student loans, offer stipends during their education and throw in some other assistance too.
The recruitment efforts have worked so far, with a few doctors in Huron because of it and a handful of med students in the pipeline. We'll have details in tonight's Eye On KELOLAND at ten.
