Black Hills Firefighters Remember Firefighter

rapid city, sd

Firefighters in the Black Hills paused to pay tribute to Trampus Haskvitz on Friday.

The 23-year old wild land firefighter died one year ago, when state Engine 561 responded to the Coal Canyon Fire.

The lightning-sparked fire wasn't far from his hometown of Hot Springs.

Later this fall, a memorial cross with Trampus' name will be placed in Coal Canyon at the entrapment site.
