3.5 Inches Of Snow Brings Out Plows, Police

sioux falls, sd

Tuesday morning's snowfall kept plow drivers and Sioux Falls police officers busy.

Snow plows hit the roads at 4 a.m. and have been working ever since.  They started with all the main streets, and will hit residential streets later in the afternoon.

Sioux Falls Street Department officials say the city south of 18th Street got a lot less snow than the rest of the city while the northwest got the most.

The city received 3.5" and it's possible a second round could pass through in the afternoon.

The quick snowfall kept officers busy as well.   They responded to 45 crashes between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m with 24 of those reported during the 7 a.m. hour.

The city of Sioux Falls had not declared a Snow Alert as of noon, though the town of Garretson has issued one and is asking drivers to remove all vehicles from the street.
