Black Hills Woman Accused Of Scamming Entitlement Programs

Belle Fourche

A Black Hills woman is accused of defrauding the federal government, allegedly cashing in on benefits she wasn't entitled to receive for years.

Cindy Lou Geib of Belle Fourche is accused of lying to the feds to get money from not one, but three different government agencies.

Geib, a former tax preparer, who now works in a health care facility, is facing eight charges in federal court.

KELOLAND investigates tracked Geib to this house, owned by her husband John Geib, in Belle Fourche.

According to court documents, Geib lied over the course of six years, and said her spouse was no longer living in the home and earning wages in order to get disability payments.

The feds say Geib also claimed that her only income was disability payments, when she had been working as a tax preparer for Liberty Tax, in order to get food stamps and Medicaid benefits for herself and her four children.

She's accused of telling the same lies to get her home weatherized and receive energy assistance.

Geib plead not guilty to all the charges last week and was given a public defender. She is scheduled to go on trial May 29th.
