State, Doctor Reach Settlement On Medicaid Claims

sioux falls, sd

A Sioux Falls doctor agrees to return the money she received from Medicaid overpayments.

Tuesday morning, the South Dakota Attorney General's office announced it had reached an agreement with Dr. Annette Bosworth, who is a doctor of internal medicine in Sioux Falls.  Bosworth has agreed to pay nearly $15,000 to the state to settle the civil suit.

Last November, Bosworth appeared before the state Medical and Osteopathic Board to defend her medical license.  While the hearing had nothing to do with the Medicaid billing disputes, the topic did come up.

In this case, the state claimed that Bosworth submitted reimbursement claims to Medicaid that contained inaccurate information and that she submitted claims for services not covered by the Department of Social Services.

The settlement is neither an admission of wrongdoing or liability by Bosworth, nor a concession by the state that the claims are not founded.

Bosworth agreed to pay nearly $15,000.  The state will release about $9,200 in Medicaid payments that it's been holding pending the results of this case, so Bosworth only needs to pay the remaining $5,500 as a part of the settlement.
