South Dakota Influenza Deaths Quadruple

Pierre, SD

South Dakota health officials said it has been an especially deadly week, with the number of flu cases in the state this season quadrupling.

12 people in the state have now died from the flu. 92 percent of the deaths are among elderly persons. 245 people have been hospitalized.

Pennington, Walworth, Lincoln, Minnehaha, Grant, Roberts, Brown, Hutchinson and Lake Counties saw Influenza deaths during the 2014-15 flu season.

The South Dakota Department of Health reportes the state is likely only halfway through the flu season.
