The recount is complete. Voters in the Tea School District are learning the final results of the latest bond vote.
During the initial count, the $9.9 million school bond failed by just two votes. With a count of 912 yes to 610 no, the bond is officially rejected.
The three registered voters who filed for the recount were not optimistic that the result would change, but their intention was to send a message to the other Tea voters that these projects that include an elementary school addition and a performing arts center are important to them and crucial for the students in the district. The Tea Area School Board has said on many occasions that the biggest need was for more classrooms for the growing district.
They will meet as a board next Tuesday to discuss what options they have to pursue the projects in the future. Not included in the third bond vote was a new elementary school, which is something the district wants to add in the coming years as well.
The recount for the Tea Area school bond took about an hour, and at the end of it all, the result remains the same.
